A few weeks ago, Charleston Baptist Temple celebrated the 150th anniversary of its founding. I grew up as a member of that congregation, and was glad to able to join them as they celebrated that milestone. The service included many musical offerings, including an anthem I wrote for the occasion, “Our Help, Our Hope, Our Home.” My thanks to Eddie Bucklen and the chancel choir for their musicianship and labor in preparing for the occasion, and to the entire BT family for the opportunity to contribute something unique to that special day in the church’s history.
The past few months have been pretty busy between my “day job” and adjusting to life with two kids, but I’ve worked in a bit of time to write. I’ve got a few new pieces lined up for publication later this year, and several others in progress. Stay tuned!
I’m excited to finish 2018 with the publication of two new choral works. First, a setting of W.B. Yeats’s The Lake Isle of Innisfree, commissioned by the Kettering Children’s Choir for SA voices with piano, is now available from Heritage Music Press. The second piece, also from Heritage, is an SATB/piano setting of Willa Cather’s poem Prairie Spring, the epigraph to her novel O Pioneers! I hope you’ll take a few minutes to check these pieces out. (Click on the links above to listen to recordings and view a few sample score pages from each piece).
Here’s to an even more exciting 2019!
I’m working on rebuilding my site. Check back soon for more content.
